TRAILER EDGE PROTECTION SYSTEM (TEPS)
The Flat Bed Trailer Edge Protection System (TEPS) is designed to fit and lock between a wide range of truck trailer combs and tie down rails, the design accommodates the vertical movement in a trailer as it is loaded and unloaded.
Each panel is 3.0m long and 2.5m high and with a weight of approximately 15kg which allows the unit to be easily picked up by 2 operators and positioned next to the trailer or on smooth floor surfaces like warehouses, wheeled over to the truck and locked into position. The system when not in use can be nestled within each other as to not utilise high levels of floor space.
The system has a primary locking system utilising lockable castors with the secondary attachment onto the combing rail of the truck. The vertical lug has the ability to travel a certain distance to suit different heights of trailers. Combing rails sit at different levels which is dependent on the weight of the load and on the truck specifications.
The product meets the performance requirements of relevant sections contained within Australian Standard AS/NZS1576, AS/NZS1664 & AS/NZS1665. A letter of certification can be provided from the manufacturer.

After two years of searching for a suitable solution to eliminate the risk of an induced current electric shock to personnel working at the locomotive maintenance sheds, David Armstrong, Maintenance Manager at the Callemondah Depot Gladstone, sought the services of Safe Option Solutions in conjunction with BLH Safety Solutions.
This photo shows the workshop with the aluminium handrails insitu. The holistic approach of offering non-conductive hand railing, in conjunction with dropped object prevention has now allowed Aurizon to offer a high level of protection to their workforce in the electric services maintenance workshop. The issue was the possibility of induced current from the 25000 volt locomotive power created on the existing aluminium handrail system. The new non-conductive hand railing now eliminates this safety issue, with the addition of a new unique dropped object prevention system made completely of polymer, protecting the workforce from two major issues at the Aurizon Callemondah Depot in Gladstone.
Fabrication of the handrails was conducted on site in Gladstone, which ensured critical measurements required, were adhered to. Dave expressed that he was very impressed by the professionalism of the whole project which offered a very favourable safety outcome to Aurizon. Safe Option Solutions and BLH Safety Solutions were pleased to offer this innovative, combined system and Dave Armstrong of Aurizon was delighted with the result and is currently reviewing their future requirements to eliminate other similar issues on their site.
